Dear Parents / Friends,
Welcome to the Mater Dei Catholic Primary School website. Whether you are an existing parent or an interested onlooker, we hope you find our website is informative and reflective of our school.
Here at Mater Dei, we work in partnership with parents and clergy to provide an environment that fosters your child’s development and meets their educational needs. We work to provide a holistic education, one that develops your child spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally, in a community that is underpinned by Gospel values.
Mater Dei Primary School is a faith centered community that nurtures and inspires.
We live our faith. Catholic beliefs are taught and our faith is experienced, witnessed and shared so that we can assist all students in their faith journey. Our school is an integral part of the Sacred Heart Parish, Kooringal and we work very closely with parents and parish priest, Father Paddy Sykes, to give each child the opportunity to experience the fullness of their faith. Whilst learning about, and living, our faith are paramount to us, we also respect other faith traditions.
We value our community. We work in partnership with parents, carers and outside agencies to support students to be global citizens who are prepared and empowered to contribute to their family, our school, our parish and the wider world. We assist families by providing an after school supervision service through Extend.
We choose to nurture. We have a safe and caring school where diverse learners pursue their individual potential. We have a dedicated staff at Mater Dei Primary School and we employ specialist staff in support of all students. Specialist staff include an Inclusive and Diverse Learning teacher, a Pastoral Care worker, an Aboriginal Education officer, a Counsellor, a Maths focus teacher, two Literacy specialists, a Music and Drama teacher and an Art teacher.
We commit to inspire. Student learning centres around high expectations and there is a deep belief and resolve that each student be given the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability. Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their own learning in order to become enthused lifelong learners who recognise that challenges can become learning opportunities. In support of student learning, we have specialist programs such as Reading Recovery, EMU (Early Mathematical Understanding) and Quick smart programs in Literacy and Numeracy.
As Principal of our school, I see my role as working with all stakeholders to ensure that we establish and maintain a culture of learning in the context of a Catholic School. It is our goal to provide an environment where children feel safe, supported and one in which they are happy in their learning.
Please feel free to further investigate our website to learn about our school. If you require more information or clarification, do not hesitate to contact us.
